Greece gets knocked out by Argentina in Olympic Basketball

In a very tight basketball game, Argentina knocked Greece out of medal contention by winning 80-78.

The game came down to the final seconds; Argentina was up 80-75 when Panagiotis Vassilopoulos hit a 3 pointer in the last 30 seconds. But as Argentina ran the clock out for their 2 pt lead win.

I think we are all disappointed with this loss. Greece was almost guaranteed to win at least a bronze and now they are going home empty handed. It’s unfortunate because they have so much talent.

Argentina will play the U.S. next.

peter	this was SUCH an exciting game... tons of 3 point bombs... it came down to the wire and Greece almost won it with a last second 3 point shot that missed by inches... Manu Ginobili said afer teh game "I thought it was going in". August 21, 2008 07:47 AM
